MST's glaucoma instruments can treat versatile forms of glaucoma, both open- and narrow-angle, primary / secondary, children / adults, pseudoexfoliative, pigmentary, mild / moderate / severe glaucoma.

The instruments can be used on their own, but also in combination with cataract surgery.

This technique (irrigating goniectomy) removes part of the occluded, trabecular meshwork in Schlemm's canal, which thus opens access and directs the aqueous humor through many natural drainage canals, about 20-35 in number. This is in contrast to other MIGS alternatives where you insert an artificial drain / implant.

To perform the Irrigating Goniectomy operation, one can choose between two instruments. The easiest way to start and gain experience with the technique is to use Trabex + , which can be connected to a phako machine. Some clinics with a certain patient volume also acquire the Trabectome system.

Trabex +
Trabex + has laser-made, small serrated blades that ensure precise and complete excision of the trabecular meshwork, and with a trapezoidal shape that adapts to anatomical variations in patients.
The disposable instrument also has irrigation / aspiration. Can be connected to most phaco machines.
Provides better visibility, chamber depth control (which ensures access to irido-corneal angle), and good management of blood reflux.

Trabectome
Stand-alone system. The instrument has bipolar electrodes that generate a "plasma cloud" that
defragments trabecular meshwork. Very gentle, precise and efficient. Gives almost no heat, max 1 degree celsius.

Trabectome is very well documented with over 130+ published studies / articles,  and 10 years
data on efficacy and safety.

In order to execute surgeries with  Trabex + og Trabectome, surgeons must complete a certification course.
